Top Rated Robot Vacuums
A robot vacuum will keep floors clean enough to decrease the frequency at which you'll need to manually vacuum. Pick a robot vacuum with good navigation, has the ability to clean stairs and corners and has an enormous bin that needs to be cleaned out every now and then.
There are models that mop and charge themselves This is an advantage important for families with children or pets. A lot of the top performers in our tests have decent obstacle avoidance.
1. IRobot Roomba i3+ EVO
The i3+ EVO and its sibling, the i3 EVO, are identical robots, but they differ in that the i3+ has self-emptying features. That makes the i3+ a great choice for people who want an entirely automated, hands-free cleaning experience, but aren't afraid of taking the time to empty their robot's trash bin when it fills up.
Both robots are adept at removing surface dirt on carpets and hard floors, and they can easily move around furniture and other obstacles. iAdapt navigation software makes smart maps of your home that help the i3+ EVO navigate and clean in a way that maximizes efficiency. The i3+ does not have obstacle avoidance capabilities like the i7+ or other top-rated robots we tested. It can be stuck on power cords and socks and have difficulty navigating between different surfaces like rug and hardwood.
iRobot recommends clearing areas that the i3+ EVO will vacuum prior to when you use it, and include clearing out any toys or clutter it may come across. You should also keep the filters and dust bin free of dirt to prevent them from getting blocked. When the i3+ EVO’s internal bin is empty or the battery is low it returns to the docking station and automatically emptys the dirt into the docking station's dust bin. It then continues cleaning where it started. The i3+ EVO's batteries last for approximately an hour and a half continuous use. It takes about three hours to recharge.
2. iRobot Roomba i7+
The iRobot i7+ is an excellent model from iRobot's flagship line, and it comes with the latest features. It's self-charging, self-navigating, and -- the most important feature of all -- it comes with self-emptying bins that eliminate one of the most important sources of maintenance for any robot vacuum.
The Roomba I7+ is able to map rooms more efficiently with Imprint Smart Mapping. It also integrates with the iRobot Home app to let you schedule cleaning tasks and control your robot with voice or via the app.

In our tests, the i7+ was faster and more maneuverable than our second-placed model and the eufy RoboVac G30, and it picked up large pieces of pet hair from all surface types including carpeting. The main advantage it has over the Eufy is its self-emptying garbage bin that eliminates the main sources of maintenance and reduces recurring cost.
We were also awestruck by the i7+’s compatibility with Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant AI services. We used these services to instruct the robot to start or stop cleaning sessions and also to move around the room and even vacuum a specific area. The iRobot Home App made it easy to connect the i7+ to these services. Once connected to these services, we were able use the i7+'s voice commands such as "Hey Alexa, vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home App also offers options to manage i7+ settings and monitoring performance.
3. Dyson Cyclone V10
This tiny Dyson model is an athletic car in a world of cordless vacuums that feel like minivans and buses. automated vacuum cleaner is powerful enough to replace a stand-up vacuum in the majority of homes, but it is also compact enough to fit on a bookcase or coffee table.
The V10 is powered by a 7-cell, energy-dense lithium-ion battery that produces fade-free power for 60 minutes. Its advanced whole-machine filtration system traps allergens and releases clean air back into your home. The specialized head uses rigid nylon bristles that penetrate deep into carpets, and then pick up large crumbs or fine dust. It has three different suction modes that can be adapted to suit the task. It swiftly switches from handheld vacuum to floor vacuum and back again.
This model comes with a dock which charges the Dyson to 100 percent in 3.5 hours. It also offers easy access to 2 attachments and an Wand. This is a major improvement over previous Dysons which require a long charge and are difficult to store.
The biggest issue with the V10 is its limited run time. As CR's tests have shown, its advertising claims of up to 60 minutes are not true. This is an average and not a remarkable run time for a battery-powered cordless vac. This is enough time to vacuum the average-sized home, but not enough to reach every area. (A second pass usually works). However, this model isn't a good choice It's lighter and more mobile than the older cordless Dysons, and its vacuuming efficiency is better on carpets with low pile.
4. iRobot Roomba 694
The 694 is a basic robot vacuum that's an excellent choice for those who don't have a lot of money to spend on the latest model of robot. It was able to pick up all kinds of debris in our tests, and frequently went over the same area several times to give a thorough clean. The flat front of the unit allows it to reach into corners and along the walls' edges which is a nice touch.
Its intelligent navigation system makes use of iAdapt technology to stay clear of obstacles and help you navigate your home. However, it isn't equipped with the mapping capabilities of more advanced models, including our top picks, the i3+EVO and J7+ Series. It is prone to getting stuck on cords for phones or furniture that is low and is often unable to supply power before returning to its original location.
The Xiaomi Mi robot is superior in many ways over the Roomba 694, as it has fewer components that require regular cleaning, is outfitted with an allergen-trapping HEPA filtering system, incurs lower cost of recurring costs, has more advanced automation abilities and is able to better move itself. It also has a bigger dustbin and can charge faster.
The eufy RoboVac X8 has a superior battery life than the Roomba 694. It also comes with physical boundaries and can be controlled with your smartphone's voice assistant. It's also more durable, has a stronger motor, and can perform better on floors with bare or low-pile.
5. Samsung Jet Bot AI+
Samsung is a well-known brand in home electronics. It's no surprise that they are also among the top manufacturers of robot vacuums and mop. Their Jet Bot AI+ is equipped with cutting-edge onboard technology to aid in navigation and obstacles avoidance.
The app provides plenty of options to customize your robotic cleaner, such as virtual barriers, mopping water levels and behavior adjustments docking frequency settings and more. The app is simple to navigate and use as are other Samsung devices.
In our testing our tests, the Jet Bot AI+ excelled on hard floors, and also handled dog hair (on carpet) very well, picking up 86 percent of it. It didn't do very well in avoiding taller items like socks or cords. This was disappointing. It's also a bit more expensive than the other models we tried and could be a deal-breaker for some buyers.
The app allows you to access the onboard camera of the smart vacuum. You can also set up live streaming from the robot's cleaning zone. This feature lets you to check in on your children or pets when you are away. The filter and the dustbin can be cleaned for a quick, painless clean-up. The Jet Bot AI+ comes with an automatic clean station which helps keep the robot's bin clear and optimizes suction power.
6. Black & Decker Robot Vacuum
In contrast to other robotic vacuums that are made for carpets and hard floors, Black and Decker robots are specifically designed for hard floors. They have an extra wide cleaning path, as well as dust bins that are 2 times larger than other models. This lets them keep the area clean for longer. In addition, they have two side sweepers that clean up around edges and in corners. The POWERSERIES model comes with AutoSense which adjusts the power level depending on whether it's collecting dirt that is on the surface or embedded. The vacuum also comes with an app that lets users to see a virtual map, control functions, and set schedules. You can also monitor the status of the vacuum's battery and then return it to its dock to charge at the touch of the button. The app allows you to customize the LED lights on top of the vacuum using different colors, so that you can clearly see which areas it's focused on or where it's gotten stuck.
The app also makes it easy to steer the robot manually should you need to. My living room rug, for instance, has a darkly-colored border that could cause trouble for other robots. The HRV 425BL however continued to travel across the border without registering the edge. And the ability to create a weekly cleaning schedule is a fantastic time-saving feature.
